Commonwealth Corporation recently released "Measuring Business Impact: A Workforce Development Practitioner's Guide," a guidebook offering step-by-step instructions to measuring the business impact of workforce programs. The Practitioner's Guide features examples, tools, tips and worksheets based on Commonwealth Corporation's experience in measuring business impact of workforce programs in Massachusetts. The guidebook was released at an event, Measuring the Business Impact of Workforce Development, on November 30, 2011 at College of the Holy Cross in Worcester. Joanne Goldstein, Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development, opened the event to an audience of over 120 people. The event featured a how-to presentation on the steps of measuring business impact, as well as a panel discussion with a business and two project coordinators sharing their experiences. The event and guidebook are the first of the Workforce Development in Practice Series, an ongoing initiative that will allow Commonwealth Corporation to share useful tools and examples of good practice with workforce development practitioners in Massachusetts and beyond. The Workforce Development in Practice Series will include publications, presentations, and opportunities to convene workforce development professionals to engage with each other, learn and share their experiences.
