Commonwealth Corporation has invested in clean energy workforce development programs and training capacity since 2007.  Workforce Competiveness Trust Fund grants supported industry sector partnerships convened by Greenfield Community College and the Barnstable County/Cape Cod Economic Development Council. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center supported Clean Energy Capacity Building grants.

Building on these efforts, in 2009 the Massachusetts Workforce Investment Board was awarded a $5.9 million State Energy Sector Partnership grant from the U.S. Department of Labor.  Commonwealth Corporation led the planning activities and is managing the grant on behalf of the Board.
