Workforce Training Fund: Hiring Incentive Training Grant Program ( Past Program )
Notification: The Hiring Incentive Training Grant (HITG) Program Will No Longer Accept Applications After November 30, 2014
The Hiring Incentive Training Grant (HITG) program is funded through the Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund.
On November 18, 2014, the Advisory Board for the Workforce Training Fund voted to:
freeze the Hiring Incentive Training Grant program, effective November 30, and
direct staff to redesign the HITG program consistent with the core objectives of the Workforce Training Fund .
The Board took this action because funding requests for Hiring Incentive Training Grants have been growing at an unsustainable rate. In FY2013, requests totaled $544,000. In FY14, requests totaled $4.75 million. Requests received to date in FY15 will result in $5 million in payments, which is the amount budgeted for this program for the entire fiscal year.
The Board is committed to ensuring that resources provided through the redesigned program will support employment success for newly hired veterans, individuals with disabilities and long-term unemployed individuals and can be supported with available resources.
