Culturally Responsive Teaching in the DYS Classroom
DYS has developed a set of instructional guides to support effective teaching in residential programs that, and beginning in 2007, the Guides have included a chapter on Culturally Responsive Teaching. The CRT chapter is based on research and best practices from national experts in the field of multi-cultural education as well as social justice and equity teachings. The framework for CRT has provided a foundation of work for professional development for educators, management personnel and staff connected to the DYS Comprehensive Education Partnership.
Roots Up Training Program-Spanish Translation of Handouts
Roots Up Green Job Training is a 21 week program to prepare participants to work as entry level assistants to a solar hot water installation crew or weatherization crew. It can also be used as a sustainable energy introduction for students who are interested in other related careers.
