\u8fd9 Healey-Driscoll<\/span> Administration<\/span> announced $3.9<\/span> million<\/span> in<\/span> Senator<\/span> Kenneth<\/span> J<\/span>. Donnelly<\/span> Workforce<\/span> Success<\/span> grants<\/span> for six in<\/span>itiatives representin<\/span>g employers and collaborative organizations across the Commonwealth. The grants<\/span>,\u202ffunded through the Workforce<\/span> Competitiveness Trust Fund (WCTF)<\/a>\u202fand distributed by the Commonwealth Corporation,\u202faim\u202fto\u202fin<\/span>crease access to well-payin<\/span>g j<\/span>obs for residents facin<\/span>g employment\u202fbarriers and\u202fimprove the competitive stature of Massachusetts busin<\/span>esses by enhancin<\/span>g worker skills and productivity.<\/p>\r\n \r\n

Labor and Workforce<\/span> Development Secretary Lauren J<\/span>ones\u202fmade the announcement at the African Bridge Network Immigrant Professional Fellowship Cohort graduation.\u202f<\/strong>The African Bridge Network received $498,655 to provide train<\/span>in<\/span>g and placement services to 50 unemployed and underemployed participants for Research Admin<\/span>istrators, Clin<\/span>ical Research Coordin<\/span>ators, and Healthcare Program Coordin<\/span>ators positions.\u202f<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n

\u201cEvery in<\/span>dividual in<\/span> Massachusetts should have access to quality j<\/span>ob train<\/span>in<\/span>g, and our employers should have access to the skilled talent they need to do busin<\/span>ess,\u201d said Governor Healey<\/strong>. \u201cOur workforce<\/span> is our greatest competitive strength. The latest round of Workforce<\/span> Success<\/span> Grants<\/span> is another example of our Administration<\/span>\u2019s commitment to expandin<\/span>g opportunities and expandin<\/span>g our lead.\u201d<\/p>\r\n

\u201cIn<\/span>vestin<\/span>g in<\/span> our workforce<\/span> and our busin<\/span>esses is in<\/span>vestin<\/span>g in<\/span> the Massachusetts economy and puts the state in<\/span> a position to succeed. These grants<\/span> help organizations attract workers who may be unemployed, underemployed, or experiencin<\/span>g barriers to employment and provide the necessary skills\u202fthey need to thrive,\u201d said\u202fLieutenant Governor\u202fDriscoll<\/strong>. \u201cThese grants<\/span> will help us achieve our workforce<\/span> development goals, expand our skilled talent pool, and strengthens our competitiveness.\u201d<\/p>\r\n

\u8fd9 grants<\/span> are part of the Healey-Driscoll<\/span> Administration<\/span>\u2019s strategic in<\/span>vestment in<\/span> the Massachusetts workforce<\/span> by developin<\/span>g programs that support in<\/span>dividuals facin<\/span>g barriers to employment, such as lack of formal schoolin<\/span>g, language barriers, or past in<\/span>volvement with the crimin<\/span>al j<\/span>ustice system. The grants<\/span> will support seven in<\/span>itiatives to develop and implement employer-responsive programs to place participants in<\/span>to unsubsidized employment in<\/span> targeted occupations and create opportunities for underemployed and unemployed in<\/span>dividuals to access high-quality, in<\/span>-demand train<\/span>in<\/span>g programs.<\/p>\r\n

\u201cAs we contin<\/span>ue to in<\/span>vest in<\/span> effective workforce<\/span> strategies, the Workforce<\/span> Success<\/span> Grants<\/span> are a proven model that prepares untapped talent in<\/span> Massachusetts with technical skills to thrive in<\/span> meanin<\/span>gful careers across our Commonwealth,\u201d said Secretary Lauren J<\/span>ones of Labor and Workforce<\/span> Development.<\/strong> \u201cWe appreciate the partnership demonstrated by each of our grant award recipients, in<\/span>cludin<\/span>g train<\/span>in<\/span>g providers, non-profits, labor, academia, and employers comin<\/span>g together to deliver valuable programs to connect unemployed and underemployed in<\/span>dividuals and support the demands in<\/span> high-growth in<\/span>dustries.\u201d<\/p>\r\n

The followin<\/span>g is a list of the six grant recipients, totalin<\/span>g $3,965,503.50 to train<\/span> and hire 384 in<\/span>dividuals:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

1199SEIU Train<\/span>in<\/span>g and Upgradin<\/span>g Fund, Quin<\/span>cy, MA:\u00a0 $717,220.00<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

1199SEIU Train<\/span>in<\/span>g and Upgradin<\/span>g Fund will provide train<\/span>in<\/span>g and placement services to 72 un\/underemployed participants for Medical Assistant positions. They will partner with Steward Health Care Systems, Lynn Community Health Center, Boston Medical Center, and South Boston Community Health Center.<\/p>\r\n

African Bridge Network (ABN), Newton, MA: $498,655.00<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

African Bridge Network (ABN) will provide train<\/span>in<\/span>g and placement services to 50 unemployed and underemployed for Research Admin<\/span>istrators, Clin<\/span>ical Research Coordin<\/span>ators, and Healthcare Program Coordin<\/span>ators positions. They will partner with Mass General Brigham, Harvard Medical School (Office of Research Administration<\/span>), Boston Medical Center (Clin<\/span>ical Trial Office), and Boston Children\u2019s Hospital.<\/p>\r\n

Cambridge College, In<\/span>c., Boston, MA: $436,062.00<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Cambridge College, In<\/span>c. will provide train<\/span>in<\/span>g and placement services to prepare 50 unemployed and underemployed participants for Emergency Medical Technicians positions. They will partner with Boston EMS, MGB Ambulance, Cataldo Ambulance, Armstrong Ambulance, and PridestarEMS Ambulance.<\/p>\r\n

Cape Cod Regional Technical High School District, Harwich, MA: $225,425.00<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Cape Cod Regional Technical High School District will provide train<\/span>in<\/span>g and placement services to prepare 36 unemployed and underemployed participants for Landscapers, Groundskeepin<\/span>g, and Grounds Main<\/span>tenance positions. They will partner with Cape Coastal Landscapin<\/span>g, Coy\u2019s Brook Landscapin<\/span>g, J<\/span>axtimer Landscapin<\/span>g, and Outerland Holdin<\/span>gs.<\/p>\r\n

Holyoke Community College, Holyoke, MA: $1,457,143.00<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

Holyoke Community College will provide train<\/span>in<\/span>g and placement services to prepare 86 unemployed and underemployed participants transitionin<\/span>g from Nursin<\/span>g Aides to LPN positions. They will partner with Baystate Medical Center and Baystate Win<\/span>g Hospital.<\/p>\r\n

Entrepreneurial & Busin<\/span>ess Collaborative, Sprin<\/span>gfield MA: $630,998.50<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

The Entrepreneurial & Busin<\/span>ess Collaborative will provide train<\/span>in<\/span>g and placement services to prepare 90 unemployed and underemployed participants for First Lin<\/span>e Cook, Baker, Pre-Cook, and Cashier positions. They will partner with Northhampton Brewery, Granny\u2019s Bakin<\/span>g Table, River Valley Market, Tandem Bagel Company, and Puerto Rico Bakery II.<\/p>\r\n
