A determined Market Maker from the Central region faced a pressing challenge in the Fall of 2022 when community
health agencies were struggling to hire ABA (Autism) Techs. During meetings, the Market Maker learned that none of
the agencies were in a position to lead their grant application for a WCTF/Donnelly grant and the project stalled.
In early March of 2023, the Market Maker connected with the Polus Center, an organization interested in obtaining a
grant to support the hiring and training of ABA (Autism) Techs. However, the Polus Center needed assistance finding
suitable employee partners.
Seeing an opportunity to make a difference, the Market Maker became the “connector,” facilitating collaboration
between the community health agencies and the Polus Center. With unwavering determination, the Market Maker
highlighted the potential synergy between their shared goals, which resulted in a successful submission for a SCALE
grant.
The MassHire Market Makers remain committed to making a lasting impact in their regions. They seek opportunities
to bridge gaps, address employer needs, and connect them to state resources, acting as a catalyst to expand
opportunities for employers and job seekers.
