Happy Pride Month! During the month of June, the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex (LGBTQI+) community affirms their proud identity. Pride is celebrated in June as a tribute to the June 1969 Stonewall Riots, which began as a response to police violence on New York’s queer and trans communities. For many, Stonewall represents a watershed moment in the fight for LGBTQI+ equality.
Today, the LGBTQI+ community and their allies are still fighting for greater acceptance. Many institutions and organizations are actively working to deny LGBTQI+ individuals basic human rights.

Pride Month is also about celebrating the spirit and vibrancy of the LGBTQI+ community through parades, parties, and other community events.
Check out this incredible site from the folks at VideoOut! VideoOut has created what they describe as “the world’s first digital hub for all the information about LGBTQ+ identity, history, and culture. By us, for all! We work with queer and trans experts and creators to deeply explore who we are, where we’ve come from, and how we’ve contributed to society.” They also offer a Linktree that features direct connections to local LGBTQI+ centers and other services. You’ll also find informative videos, creative content, and other resources including a glossary of LGBTQI+ related terms.
As some of you may have heard, Boston Pride dissolved, so there won’t be a Pride parade taking place in the city this summer. However, there are still a lot of great things to do to celebrate Pride in and around Boston! Check out the links below for some upcoming events:
