Connecting international talent to field-aligned careers

Funded by the Workforce Investment Trust Fund

Overview

The Massachusetts Advancing Pathways for International Talent (MAP‑IT) Initiative is designed to help work‑authorized internationally trained professionals (ITPs) secure employment aligned with their prior education and professional experience gained abroad.

The program aims to address persistent staffing shortages while enhancing employers’ and workforce systems’ ability to recognize, value, and leverage international talent. Through targeted investments in career navigation, credential evaluation, vocational ESOL and skills training, employer engagement, and wraparound supports, MAP‑IT funds clear, accelerated pathways for ITPs to return to their fields in high‑demand sectors such as healthcare and social assistance; educational services; and professional, scientific, and technical services. Strong employer partnerships and alignment with regional labor market needs ensure that participants move into quality, career‑track employment.

The program seeks to balance strategic rigor with practical implementation, prioritizing scalable models, measurable outcomes, and equitable access across regions. It emphasizes cross‑sector collaboration, leveraging community‑based organizations, education and training providers, and industry partners to enhance a coordinated system of support.
