October 28, 2024: Over the past few years, we have seen unprecedented levels of participation in Workforce Training Fund Programs (WTFP), and as a result, Commonwealth Corporation is implementing policy changes with the goal of extending WTFP grant resources while efficiently serving more businesses.

Additionally, WTFP’s General Program will undergo application updates which will require a scheduled blackout from November 15, 2024, at 5:00 PM to December 17, 2024. Learn more here.

General Program

Available to Massachusetts employers of all sizes

General Program Training Grants:

The General Program supports Massachusetts employers of any size with resources to fund larger-scale, customized, and strategic training to upskill or reskill employees. Applicants work with training vendors of their choice to deliver a training plan that supplements their workforce needs but does not replace traditional workplace training investments. The purpose of the General Program is to increase company productivity, competitiveness, and ability to do business in Massachusetts by investing in the skills of your workforce.

FY24 Overview:

In FY24 (July 2023 – June 2024), Commonwealth Corporation awarded 159 General Program Training Grants involving 200 businesses, including 10 consortium grants partnership projects involving 51 businesses, totaling $19,900,116 in grants to train 11,403 workers in Massachusetts. Awarded businesses project a net increase of 2,848 additional workers will be employed in Massachusetts by the end of each business’s two-year grant period. Training topics represent a range such as English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL); technical and business software; process improvement; quality assurance; diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI); productivity skills; sales and customer service; supervision and leadership; project management; and much more.
