Department of Youth Services

Programs that support young people in their transition back to their community and attain the skills required to find a job.

In Partnership with the Department of Youth Services

Commonwealth Corporation partners with the state’s Department of Youth Services (DYS) to manage successful, high-quality employability programming and services to youth committed to the juvenile justice system across the state of Massachusetts.  The mission of our partnership is to provide youth with access and opportunity to a continuum of options and opportunities that will give them the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to build a better future.

Empower Your Future

Empower Your Future is an initiative designed to help young people develop academic/technical, workplace readiness, and personal/social competencies needed to be proactive, resilient, and adaptive as they transition back to their communities to attend school or work.

Arts Initiative

Art is often created for entertainment – to be consumed or invested in. For the young people involved in the DYS Arts Initiative, art is a means of healing, growth, and learning.

Employer Outreach Services

In collaboration with The Department of Youth Services (DYS), Commonwealth Corporation created an initiative to develop and connect youth to meaningful employment opportunities in Massachusetts.

LEAD Program

Leadership, Employment, and Advocacy Development (LEAD) supports positive youth development by providing work readiness and employment opportunities. DYS-involved youth are learning to LEAD as they transition back to their community and attain the skills required to find a job.

Residential Work Programs

CommCorp runs a variety of employment programs across the state to provide youth the opportunity to envision themselves as workers, explore careers, and gain basic necessary soft and technical skills.

Commonwealth Corporation is a quasi-public agency that was established in 1996 under the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.
